This is a journal prompt, partially inspired by the Five Minute Journal, that I have been following each night for about 3 years to dump out the contents of my mind and prepare for a good night's sleep. I call it the 3-1-1 journal prompt because it entails writing out 3 good things that happened that day, 1 thing I could have done to make the day better, and 1 thing I learned.
Since I started doing this journaling prompt, I am quicker to spot what is right in my life and I am more aware of the things I can do to consciously create a great day. Most significantly, this prompt has made me realize that I am the creator of my life experience. If I'm generally happy and things are going great, I know that I'm on the right track. If more often than not, I'm feeling off, I can use journaling to see what it is that is making me feel unhappy and figure out what changes I need to make to feel better.
